Ball and Chain

This set of a necklace and earrings is my entry to the internation bead competition Battle of the Beadsmith 2016 which is now going on (link here: www.facebook.com/groups/909085…). It is my third attempt in the BOTB. The idea for this year's piece almost literally hit me one day when I got home from my beading class where I also obtained lots of materials for my originally planned battle design as well as something more, of course. I thought that for the third time I would finally make something in black, possibly a collar, for the BOTB. Nevertheless, the "something more" pile contained wonderful gold and pink glass rings that completely changed my mind. So here we are, my piece is neither black nor a collar

Name: »Ball and chain« is a set of earrings and a long necklace made of soutache 3D elements, glass rings, and a central soutache pendant.
Stitches: Peyote stitch, soutache embroidery, herringbone stitch
Materials: 1x Swarovski Sea Urchin Round Stone 14 mm; 6x Swarovski Rivoli 10 mm; 9x Swarovski rivoli 8mm; Czech rounds (3 mm, 4 mm, 8 mm); Czech fire-polished beads (4 mm); 10x Czech glass rings (23 mm); Japanese seed beads 11/0 and 15/0; Nymo; Leatherette
Measurements: Central pendant: 9 x 8,5 cm; chain 81 cm; earrings 7,2 x 5,5 cm
Time: 60 hours of beading + 10 hours of preparations (sketching, picking colours,...)
